SDW has an established COVID-19 response and notification plan. Should SDW become aware of any potential cases or contamination, all current students, staff and teachers will be notified via email as soon as possible. Should an event occur, SDW will take all necessary steps to properly close off, disinfect and clear any studio or area needed.  Should the need arise, any classes affected may move to virtual Zoom classes until the studio is cleared for classes to resume. There will be no refunds for classes that are required to move to Zoom.  Please refer to our SDW SAFE RETURN video below!

Please note the following SDW Safe Return Protocols and Policies:

  • SDW has an established onsite COVID supervisor who will be in attendance during all class hours to ensure all protocols are followed.

  • SDW staff and dancers are the only people permitted in the building during class hours. -Dancers age 6 or younger may be accompanied by one adult during their classes only.

  • Dancers age 7 and older must enter without an adult.

  • Class sizes have been reduced and dance spaces have been marked to clearly indicate 6 feet of distance from other dancers during class.

  • Teachers have been trained and are prepared to conduct classes to allow for social distancing.

  • Any person entering the building must wear a mask at all times (dancers may choose to dance without a mask once in the classroom.)

  • The drinking fountain, refrigerator and back eating areas are closed. No food or eating in the studio.

  • Dance spaces will be cleaned between each class.

  • Bathrooms, common areas and door handles will be cleaned hourly.

  • Dancers must wear masks when entering or walking through the common areas of the building. At this time, dancers will be given the option to dance with or without a mask while in the classroom.

  • Only dancers age 6 or younger will be allowed to have parent accompaniment inside SDW during our summer classes. No more than one parent per dancer. We ask that parents take every measure to leave siblings at home if possible.

  • For dancers age 7 or older, please be sure the studio has the contact info of whoever is bringing your dancer to class each night in case we need to get a hold of them while the dancers are in class.

  • SDW staff will escort our dancers into the building no more than 5 minutes before the start of their class. We are aware that coming into the studio alone is new for some kids, and we will act and organize accordingly to provide a safe and stress free atmosphere.

  • Instruction time will end about 5-10 minutes early in order to organize the dancers and begin disinfecting the dance space. SDW staff will lead all dancers out of the building through our second door to meet their parents. Please wait outside the door to meet them.

  • Dancers should wear street shoes that are easy to remove and put on to make transition times between classes flow easily.

  • Dancers will have their temperatures taken using a no-touch scanner before entering the classroom. If they have a temperature above 100.3 degrees, they will be able to schedule a make-up class or can attend class virtually on ZOOM.

  • Dancers will use hand sanitizer before entering class and sit in their assigned spot until the teacher directs them to their assigned dance space. Dancers will be given hand sanitizer at the end of class.

  • Dancers should bring a small bag into the dance room with them that contains their dance shoes, water bottle and any personal belongings necessary for class. They will place their street shoes, cover-up clothing (and mask if they prefer to take class without it) in the bag during class. PLEASE SILENCE ANY PHONES OR DEVICES BROUGHT INTO THE CLASSROOM.

  • Any dancer who does not comply with social distance or causes unnecessary danger to the health and safety of their classmates or teacher will be asked to continue future classes virtually on ZOOM.

  • *Masks may become mandatory during class/dance time if SDW and state guidelines require.

  • Parents will not be allowed to enter the studio during class hours unless their child is 6 years old or younger.

  • NO ONE WILL BE PERMITTED INTO SDW WITHOUT WEARING A MASK. Any parent of a dancer under the age of 6 will also be required to show a temperature below 100.4 degrees to remain in the studio.

  • Parents will drop off or wait outside with their dancers until an SDW staff member escorts them in. We will allow dancers in the studio 5 minutes before their classes begin. Dancers will be escorted out of Door 2 after their final class of the day. Parents should wait outside of this door to meet them at the end of their class. Please do not be late.

  • Any questions regarding payments, etc. should be done over the phone or via email. The desk will be open for business from 1:00-5:00pm daily, but closed during class hours.

  • Parents must sign the attached waiver before the dancer enters the studio for their first class (hard copies will be provided at a table in front of the studio).

  • Parents must consider the following before bringing their child to dance each day:

    1. Have they or their child experienced any of the following symptoms recently? Fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, muscle or body aches, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea? If yes, stay home.

    2. Have you participated in international travel by airplane in the last 14 days? If yes, stay home.

    3. In the last 14 days, have you had close contact with a confirmed/probable COVID-19 case? If yes, stay home.

  • SDW will have virtual ZOOM class options available for dancers to participate from home, should the need arise.
