​IGNITE is a program at Spotlight Dance Works for dancers seeking competitive training and team experience without the steep commitment of our Pre Pro Company. IGNITE is for dancers ages 5 and up with at least one year of recreational dance experience. The IGNITE company will represent Spotlight Dance Works at local talent competitions, community events and SDW performances.  The IGNITE  Company curriculum upholds the SDW pillars of community, positivity, artistry and dedication in order to foster long standing relationships with peers, faculty and dance as an artform.

What makes an IGNITE Company Dancer? A dancer who: 

• Has the ability to sustain focus for multiple classes in a row 

• Follows directions 

• Enjoys learning 

• Works well with others 

• Is open to being challenged 

• Responds positively to instructor feedback 

• Shows dedication through consistent attendance 

• Is willing to put in additional time at home memorizing and preparing for early season performances 

 

* Dancers who struggle with this criteria may be encouraged to participate in another year of rec prior to joining the team

 

Summer Company Commitments: 

• IGNITE Intensive Audition Day: (June 2026)

• All prospective and returning IGNITE dancers must audition to be eligible for summer company training 

• July IGNITE Training Sessions (ages 5-12)

  • Must take at least 1 of the 2 training sessions offered  

  • 3 day Training program (T-TH) 

• July Advanced Training Sessions (13+) 

  • Must take at least 1 of the 2 training sessions offered 

  • 4 day Training Program (M-TH) 

• IGNITE Summer Intensive (August 2026) 

  • Final decision for company readiness & Company/ Group Placement for the upcoming season 

 

IGNITE Purchase Requirements: 

• Team Jacket and Bag 

• IGNITE Summer Intensive Enrollment Fee 

• IGNITE Monthly Tuition (Sept-June) which includes the 3 recreational classes, the IGNITE technique class and 2 competition rehearsals 

• Entry fees for two Regional Competitions 

• Costume purchase for Recreational Program classes 

• Costumes for at least 2 Competitive Routine

• Competition Makeup  

• Competition Earrings  

• Purchase of appropriate shoes for class and stage

IGNITE Dancers are Eligible for Participation In:

• National Honor Society of Dance Arts 

• Big/Little Mentor Program

• Class Assistant Program (ages 10 and up)

• SDW Company Holiday and Year End Parties

• Special Company Events

• Fundraising
