IGNITE is a program at Spotlight Dance Works for dancers looking for a competitive team experience, without the commitment of our Pre Pro Company. IGNITE requires a class commitment level of two nights per week. The IGNITE team will represent Spotlight Dance Works at local talent competitions, community events and SDW performances. IGNITE is for dancers ages 6 and over with at least one year of recreational dance experience.  Dancers in the IGNITE Performing Company at Spotlight Dance Works will participate in a curriculum that upholds the SDW pillars of community, positivity, artistry and dedication in order to foster long standing relationships with peers, faculty and dance as an artform.

IGNITE INVOLVES: 

​

  • Commitment to 2 nights of dance per week

    • Some dancers may elect to take additional classes at an additional cost

  • Participation in-

    • IGNITE Summer Intensive - August 14-16, 2023

    • 2 local regional competitions - Spring 2024

    • Annual Company Showcase - Spring 2024

    • 2-3 days of Recital in mid-June (including dress rehearsal for each performance) - June 2024

  • Enrollment and participation in age appropriate recreational Ballet, Jazz, and a third class on a day and time of your choosing (at least 3 recreational classes)

  • Enrollment and participation in the IGNITE Weekly Company Class and Rehearsals

    • Dancers will use this time to work on dance skills, get to know teammates, and rehearse two competitive routines.

    • Routine styles will vary

  • Requirement to attend 2 mandatory Sunday rehearsals in the weeks leading up to their debut performance. 

    • Sunday rehearsal dates announced in September. (Sunday rehearsal will be in January)

  • Eligibility for participation in: 

    • National Honor Society of Dance Arts 

    • Class Assistant Program (age 10 and up)

    • SDW Company Holiday/Year End Party

    • Special Company Events

    • Fundraising

IGNITE PURCHASE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Team Jacket

  • Team Bag

  • IGNITE Summer Intensive Enrollment Fee

  • IGNITE Monthly tuition (Sept-June) which includes the 3 recreational classes, the IGNITE technique class and 2 competition rehearsal classeses for two Regional Competitions

  • Entry fees for 2 Regioanal Competitions

  • Costume purchase for Recreational Program classes AND 2 Competitive Routines​

  • Competition Makeup Kit Purchase

  • Purchase of appropriate shoes for class and stage
