WHERE DO WE CHECK IN?

SDW staff will be waiting to check your dancer in, near the entrance to the “Rehearsal Room”. Once checked in, you will be directed into the Rehearsal Room where you will wait with your dancer until they have finished their rehearsal performance. Spotlight teaching staff will be collecting all dancers directly from the Rehearsal Room to bring their class to the stage.  Regardless of age, please have your dancer prepared to remain in the Rehearsal Room until their class is called back. SDW teaching staff will also bring them back to the rehearsal room when they have completed their performance. All dancers are free to leave once they have completed their rehearsal performance.

WHERE DO I CHANGE MY CHILD?

We ask that your dancer arrive at the auditorium wearing their costume with hair and make-up already done. If your dancer is in more than one dance in our show, there will be a draped off area within the rehearsal room, as well as a separate GIRLS ONLY changing room, BOYS ONLY changing room and a FAMILY changing room in order to accomodate all parent/student combinations.

CAN I WATCH MY CHILD DANCE AT THE DRESS REHEARSAL?

This year we are closing our dress rehearsal to the public. Parents are asked to wait in the holding room for the duration of the rehearsal. There will be a closed circuit TV in the rehearsal room for parents to see their dancers while they rehearse on stage. Parents will still be welcome to watch during our in-studio rehearsal on June 1st.

CAN I DROP MY CHILD OFF DURING DRESS REHEARSAL?

All parents with dancers under the age of 12 must remain with their children in the Rehearsal Room for the duration of the dress rehearsal. SDW staff will be there to direct and oversee, but can not be responsible for your child when they are not on stage.

HOW LONG IS DRESS REHEARSAL?

We plan about 90 minutes for each show’s Dress Rehearsal. The time is approximate and depends heavily on the cooperation and prompt arrival of our dance families. We request that you remain patient and flexible in the event that a rehearsal takes longer than expected. We want your dancer to look their best and will do all we can to make sure that happens!

DO WE NEED TO STAY TO REHEARSE THE GRAND FINALE?

The grande finale will NOT be rehearsed on Wednesday, June 12th. Your dancer does not have to stay for the entire show. They are free to leave when they are done with their performance.

IS DRESS REHEARSAL MANDATORY?

SDW strongly encourages that your dancer participates at both our in-studio as well as our theater dress rehearsal.  Dress rehearsals are standard for all theater performances from amatuer through professional level dancers. These rehearsals are an opportunity to get your dancer used to performing in different atmospheres and to help them feel more at ease on stage during their big performance. SDW staff uses these rehearsals to check that entrances/exits, stage spacing, timing go as planned. We also check that all costumes are just right and that your dancer is looking their best. We want your dancers to shine on stage and these rehearsals are truly the way to make sure this happens. If you have a conflict with either of your rehearsal dates, please let your teacher know asap so we can plan accordingly.

WILL MY DANCER GET FEEDBACK AFTER DRESS REHEARSAL?

Teachers will be emailing out any important costume notes the day after our Theater Rehearsal. Please keep an eye on your inbox incase your teacher has notes for your dancer’s class.
